Beverly D. Flaxington

Beverly D. Flaxington, the Human Behavior Coach™ is a two-time bestselling and Gold-award winning author, is an international speaker, an accomplished consultant, hypnotherapist, personal and career coach, bestselling author, college professor, corporate trainer, facilitator, behavioral expert, entrepreneur and business development expert.
Beverly’s knowledge of human behavior and the most effective ways to make change happen have helped thousands of people and hundreds of organizations over the years. In addition to being a coach on changing human behavior she is recognized as a confidence coach and work relationship “doctor” by many.
Bev has created a number of proprietary, successful approaches to changing human behavior and helping companies reach higher levels of excellence including the Sales Effectiveness Model, the S.H.I.F.T. Model™, and the Five Secrets to Successful Selling™.
She is a frequent speaker and contributor to articles on the subjects of sales, marketing, behavioral issues, employee and career issues, effective time management and dealing with difficult people.
Beverly is an adjunct professor at Suffolk University. She teaches “Leadership and Social Responsibility”, a required course where Make the SHIFT is a required text. Beverly is a Certified Hypnotist, Certified Hypnosis Trainer, Reiki Master Attunement Practitioner, Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst (CPBA) and Certified Professional Values Analyst (CPVA). She uses the DISC and PIAV tools frequently in her work with individuals and organizations.
Bev co-founded The Collaborative in 1995, a sales and marketing consultancy. The firm provides strategic and tactical support to help financial services and wealth management firms, and the individuals they employ, reach higher levels of effectiveness and meet their goals. The Collaborative specializes in delivering effective coaching, training and proprietary consulting services. In 2008, the firm launched a new online portal, AdvisorsTrustedAdvisor.com (ATA) to meet the specific needs of independent investment advisors and wealth managers.
Bev’s books are translated into many languages and used in dozens of colleges and universities throughout the country. She most recently released Self-Talk for a Calmer You, published by Adams Media. She is the author of the bestselling and Gold-award winning Understanding Other People: The Five Secrets to Human Behavior, as well as a companion book, 30 Days to Understanding Other People: A Daily Guide to Improving Relationships.
Bev authored the bestselling book Make Your Shift: The Five Most Powerful Moves You Can Make to Get Where YOU Want to Go. The business companion is Make the Shift: The Proven Five-Step Plan to Success for Corporate Teams. She also authored The 7 Steps to Effective Business Building for Financial Advisors: How top earning advisors attract and retain the most profitable clients and the companion Workbook for this program. The 7 Steps program was selected by the Financial Planning Association and is available in their online store at a member discount.

WILLIAM F. SHAW

William is an experienced retirement marketing professional with a passion for, and track record of, developing marketing programs that impactfully motivate Americans to invest for the future. He has worked for over 28 years in institutional marketing, sales, investment education, and account management, and plays a leadership role, speaking at industry conferences and serving on external boards and retirement-related task forces. He joined the Collaborative in January 2014, enhancing the firm’s focus on retirement and advisory consulting.

Previously, he served as Vice President, Director of Marketing and Communications, in the Retirement Wealth Management Division of The Hartford, after being acquired from MFS Investment Management. There he served as Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing & Communications since 1999. In both of these organizations he was responsible for the overall strategic direction and implementation of all marketing channel strategy, brand development, communication and education programs, advertising, product development roll-out and fulfillment for retirement plan participants, plan sponsors, investment professionals, broker dealers, consultants and TPA’s in the DB/DC, DC10, IRA, 529, health/education and tax exempt markets.

He has a proven track record of developing strong, award-winning marketing programs, producing demonstrable increases in market share. and quantifiable bottom-line results to the firms with which he has worked. His team, efforts have been recognized by many independent sources such as the PSCA, P&I, and IABC, as being among the strongest in the industry and culminating in being named 2005 “401(1c) Provider of the Year”, 2036 “Investment Educator of the Year” runner-up, and “Most Influential’. nominee by 401(10 Wire four years running, and PSCA Communicators Hall of Fame.

Prior to joining MFS, he was Vice President, Director of Plan Sponsor and Participant Marketing & Communications at Scudder, Stevens and Clarke. Prior to that, he was Director of Consultant Relations at John Hancock Funds, where he worked for more than ten years.

He served on the Board of Trustees to the Employee Benefits Research Institute in Washington (EBRI), was Chairman to the Profit Sharing 401(k) Council of America Advisory Board (PSCA) as well as elected to the PSCA Board of Directors, serves as a member of the Life Insurance Market Research Association (UMRA) Pension and Marketing Committees, and is an NASD licensed Principal, Series 6, 26, and 63.

He has delivered testimony for legislation sponsored by Senators Dole, Packwood, and Kennedy, as well as worked as a consultant for First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, during President Clinton’s first term in office. He is listed in Who, Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.

William received his M.B.A. from Boston University and a B.A. from Suffolk University.

Janet Britcher

Janet joins The Collaborative as Director of Coaching. She has extensive experience in coaching leaders whose job responsibilities have expanded through promotion or organizational growth. She develops and delivers customized leadership workshops, and facilitates groups, such as senior management retreats and board retreats.

She has held leadership roles as a member of the senior management team at Thomson Financial Software Division and Mintz Levin (law firm). She has personally managed groups of up to 60 employees.

Janet’s approach is to build on leadership strengths while developing new skills. When leaders enhance their accountability and authenticity, the entire organization transforms business results as well.

Janet holds an MBA with a concentration in Organization Development from Boston College; certifications include Myers-Briggs, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Lego Serious Play (a strategic facilitation process), Immunity to Change, a Gestalt-based group process, and ICF coach certification. She is a devotee of Carl Jung’s psychological concepts, having studied in Ireland, Vermont, and Boston, and has presented at the Jung Institute in Boston. She has been an adjunct faculty member in the management departments at Lesley University and Regis College.

Clients include a wide range of industries including high tech, financial services, biotech, pharmaceutical, non-profit and real estate development.

Jennifer M. Copley

Jennifer M. Copley joins The Collaborative as an accomplished business consultant, executive coach, trainer, facilitator, behavioral analyst, and talent assessment interpreter. She is the founder and managing partner of CopleyConsulting, an executive talent assessment and development firm located outside of Boston, Massachusetts. For more than two decades she has helped fast-growing companies assess, interpret, select and train top-performers. She continues to facilitate executive team building sessions that increase goal achievement through the understanding of human behaviors, motivators and decision-making.

Jennifer is a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst (CPBA) and Certified Professional Values Analyst (CPVA). She is also a TriMetrix HD certified consultant through Target Training International. She has used the TriMetrix HD assessment tools with individuals and many large, global corporations throughout her firm, 17-year existence. She began her career in sales, sales management, sales consulting, and training in the technology, financial services, healthcare and educational fields. She holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Bryant University and is a Coach University graduate.

Jennifer is the author of the forthcoming book entitled: Executive Team Building Breakthroughs: Improving Goal Execution Through Understanding Behaviors, Motivators & Decision-Making.

Mark Farmer

With over 15 years of experience as a marketing strategist and a graphic and interactive designer, Mark possesses a unique combination of design skill and business savvy that allows him to identify company goals and transform them into imaginative, bottom line-focused creative solutions. Mark works with Collaborative clients in a variety of capacities – providing design for training materials to ensure they are user-friendly and appealing, creating take-away. materials that are simple and easy to use, developing positioning and marketing strategies and look and feel, designing, developing and creating websites, and finding graphical ways to represent ideas and concepts. Many of The Collaborative and Advisors Trusted Advisor clients have benefitted from Mark’s unique approach as a talented artist, graphic designer and businessman. Prior to joining The Collaborative, Mark was the founder of Ezvaluator.com, an online provider of financial analytics designed for small businesses. He was a founding member of the strategy group at Plural, Inc. (now Dell Professional Services) and head of the company’s creative services group. In this position, he led both design and strategy teams for major financial and B2B clients. Prior to joining Plural, Mark was vice president of client solutions at Macquarium Intelligent Communications in Atlanta.
